Common Applications for Using an Industrial Panel Saw

An industrial panel saw separates large pieces of wood into smaller ones. As its name implies, large boards are typically cut into smaller ones under its circular blade, which is vertically or horizontally set. In the vertical arrangement, the operator guides the blade down across the stock using a handle attached to the blade housing. In the horizontal arrangement, the blade is guided horizontally across the stock. To avoid manual labor and to speed up production, some woodworkers use a CNC model, which is operated by a programmable computer.

Due to the broad use of the pieces they produce, panel saws have various applications, with the ones below as perhaps the most common. If you need a cutting mechanism for these activities, check out our inventory of panel saws for sale.

Cabinetmaking

Trying to perform cabinetmaking without a panel saw is comparable to trying to produce millwork without a milling machine—you can do it, but the process takes much longer and is more arduous. Most cabinets are composed of a series of flat pieces. The box of the cabinet is composed of a series of flat pieces, and so are the shelves and doors. For simple cabinetry, a panel saw, a sander, and a drill may be the only equipment needed.

Home Construction

Most homes contain several types of flat woodwork, from the wood around the hearth, to boards that make bookshelves, to the pieces that compose kitchen cabinets. Consequently, an industrial panel saw is usually heard buzzing away while a new home is constructed. Ask a contractor what the most useful equipment is for home remodeling, and the saw will likely be first on his or her list.

DIY Projects

Everyone seems to have a few “Do It Yourself” (DIY) projects up their sleeve, but the question is whether the person has the right equipment to execute these projects. For DIY woodworking, no machine is quite as helpful as a panel saw. Do you want to build a tree house? What about a hunting stand? How about a new tool bench? The list of DIY projects a panel saw can help complete is extensive.

Interior Remodeling

An upcoming interior remodeling project is cause to shop for panel saws for sale. Without one, cutting plywood flooring, shelves and doors for cabinets, and other interior wood pieces will have to be done with a handsaw or a circle saw, neither of which is ideal for cutting straight, clean panels.

Wood Stock Processing

Most lumberyards have at least one panel saw for processing customer orders. The same is true for most construction sites. Wherever flat pieces of wood must be cut quickly or in large supply, the machine is typically found nearby.
